Bee Cave is located approximately fifteen miles west from downtown Austin. Originally the community was founded upon the goal of leaving the influence of Austin itself, which Bee Cave residents found incongruent with their lifestyle. Now Bee Cave is popular for large lots, houses big and small, and its proximity to the advantages of Austin while still retaining a removed, backwoods feel -- in short, the best of both worlds.
Attractions include Mansfield Dam, the Highland Lakes, Hamilton Pool, and the live music venue The Backyard, amongst many others. Bee Cave Road sports boutiques and shops, and the Hill Country Galleria offers a wealth of dining and shopping options. Educational opportunities include the Bee Cave Public Library in addition to Bee Cave City Hall and a newly constructed community outdoor amphitheater.
The price of homes in Bee Cave has a wide range because availability includes starters and large luxury homes. Since 2006 the median home price has hovered around $200,000.
