Buda

The 6,000-person community of Buda calls itself The Outdoor Capital of Texas. It prides itself on safety and affordability. Buda maintains wholesome, traditional principles to distance itself from the larger city of Austin. As a result Buda is very family-friendly. Buda has three elementary schools and high schools, as well as two middle schools.

Attractions include the Buda Public Library, antique shops, movies in the park, Red, White n Buda on July 4, the Fine Arts Festival in October and the Buda Trail of Lights in December. The per capita income in Buda is $22,167, the area is predominantly caucasian and 87% of residents graduate high school, while 23.8% graduate college.

Median home prices since 2006 have remained relatively resilient and even risen to nearly $200,000 in 2011. Prices range from under $100,000 to over $1,000,000. Although many homes are old, commercial and residential developments have increased dramatically recently and added to the variety of home sizes and styles available.
